OnBase Web ActiveX Controls by Hyland Software are browser components that extend the OnBase Web Client within Microsoft Internet Explorer to deliver desktop-like functionality for enterprise content management. They enable features such as high-fidelity document viewing, page-level navigation, annotations, scanning and indexing from connected devices, drag-and-drop document import, and advanced printing directly in the browser.
Designed for managed Windows environments, these controls are installed on user workstations—either on demand from the OnBase site or via enterprise software distribution—and run as signed ActiveX components. They are commonly used when organizations need tight integration between OnBase and local peripherals or the Windows shell.
Note: ActiveX technology is supported only in Internet Explorer and IE mode in Microsoft Edge. Modern browsers do not support ActiveX, so deployments should plan accordingly and consider non-ActiveX options offered by Hyland where available.
